These Spooky Easy Ghost Treats can be whipped up in a jiffy and are the perfect candy to share this Halloween!

A couple weeks back I had the opportunity to talk to Bryce’s kindergarten class about blogging for career day. Now, since I have oodles of trouble explaining what I do to adults, I was terrified of trying to explain it to five year olds. So I do what all moms do when asked difficult questions – I over-simplified 🙂 Worked great!
I brought in my tripod and camera and talked about how important pretty pictures were. I talked about working on the computer. I talked about making yummy food. And then, because I knew how bored these kids were going to be…we made ghosts!

The day before career day I was scrambling trying to think of a recipe that the kids could help make in class. I needed something that was going to be as allergy-friendly as possible. Naturally I thought of the pumpkin patties but I didn’t want to mess around with the food color. So, white it is. But then, I was like, WAIT! Ghosts! We can make ghosts! I brought along mini chocolate chips for the eyes and the kids had a BLAST making their own edible ghost treats.

5 SECRETS TO GETTING DINNER ON THE TABLE...FAST!
I brought along a variety of extracts (cherry, orange, lemon, root beer) and let each class pick what they wanted. Cherry was the big winner for the day. I mixed up the dough while my helper set a plate and fork for each kid at the tables. I had bowls of sugar at each table as well. I showed them how to roll the dough into a ball, roll it in the sugar and then flatten it with a fork.
To make the ghost body, just pinch the top third of the patty and shape it into a head by flattening gently with your finger. Use mini chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth or a regular chocolate chip for the mouth. Use a toothpick to make “waves” in the body of the ghost. So freakin’ cool!

The kid were totally engaged and hopefully took away the fact that being a food blogger is lots of fun!
